Adrienne Summers serves as Director, Workforce Development for the AHLA Foundation, where she leads the Foundation’s national workforce development portfolio including its DOL-Registered Apprenticeship Program and other workforce development collaborations. 

Adrienne brings more than 15 years of experience in workforce development, registered apprenticeship, grants, and federal grant management. Prior to joining the Foundation, she served as a Senior Program Analyst at the U.S. Department of Labor overseeing 168 grantees and more than $170 million in federal awards, and as Executive Director of Workforce Development at the American Association of Community Colleges, where she directed a $19.9 million DOL cooperative agreement that served more than 22,000 apprentices across 31 states, exceeding its goal by 138 percent. Earlier in her career, Adrienne founded and directed Howard Community College’s apprenticeship program, growing it from inception to 11 occupations and 175 students. Howard Community Colleges apprenticeships focused on IT, healthcare, construction management, HVAC and electrical occupations. 

Adrienne holds a B.A. in Business Administration and an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction, both from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland.
